Commission Criteria
COMMISSION FAQ
Final payment is determined by several factors--these are the main ones:
Methods of Payment
Currently I accept payments in the form of check, cash, donation via Square (see the "donation" page), and PayPal. I am looking into expanding the methods of payment to make it easier and more convenient, and if you wish to pay in some other way (such as via an app) I will do my best to be accommodating.
Contracts and Invoices
As I am doing business an unincorporated sole proprietorship freelance artist business, I am legally required to collect Sales Tax. This will be included into the cost of the commission.
If you wish, I can draw up a formal contract for your commission, or we can agree to an informal verbal or written contract via our communication. I can also produce an invoice that details and breaks down each individual cost if desired--otherwise you will be agreeing to trust my fair assessment as to total amount and to render payment as stipulated.
Payment Plans
I offer several options for payment over time, depending on your situation and preference. We can establish and agree upon a set bi-monthly or monthly amount that will be paid until the piece is paid in full.
Terms and Conditions
A finished commission is a finalized product that cannot be returned or refunded. On agreeing to purchase a work from me you are agreeing to become the owner of the physical object of art, while I will retain the copyright to it for whatever selfish needs I must entertain such as self-promotion, advertising and marketing, printmaking, etc.
If payment is not made in full in accordance with the agreed payment structure we have adopted, you will no longer be welcome to commission any further works from me and may open yourself up to legal action.
Either authorizing a formal contract or agreeing to a verbal one, both constitute an acknowledgment that the final payment price will be rendered in full within the time period agreed to by both parties.
If you require special considerations or wish to add conditions I am willing to be accommodating to serious considerations.
If the art is damaged, stolen or destroyed before full payment is made, this does not vitiate the terms of the contract and full payment must still be rendered. I can be accommodating to replace the work if it is within my ability to do so.
Final payment is determined by several factors--these are the main ones:
- Time: planning, sketching and brainstorming, researching, drafting, drying, varnishing, framing and delivery/shipping: it all takes time.
- Size of Piece: Larger sizes=more expensive.
- Medium: From most expensive to least expensive: Oil, Acrylic paint, Pen and Ink, Pencils, and Charcoal.
- Framing: Custom Framing jobs increase price: store-bought frames cost will be added if requested
- Shipping/Handling: directly proportionate to the size and weight of the piece, also included in final total
