I grew up in the woods in rural Missouri and fell in love with making art through comic book artists like Art Spigelman, Chris Ware, Ivan Brunetti and Robert Crumb. As a child I would create comic books of my own to share with my classmates about pirates, ninjas, samurai, and aliens.
At University, I pursued and eventually earned a degree in Film Studies with a Fine Art minor--I have been lucky enough to have been part of several crews as a PA, Grip, and Camera operator.
I had the good fortune to travel to Europe and study the Dutch and Flemish masters up close in The Netherlands and Belgium, and their works inspired me to create paintings of my own, and to attempt to unravel the mysteries of how the old masters created their works.
Since I began painting as a freelancer, I have been lucky enough to sell many paintings and do commissioned works for others. I strive to improve my technique and embrace uncertainty.
