"Jesus at the Boxing Press Conference" Acryilc Painting
'Jesus at the Boxing Press Conference' is a massive acrylic painting(~3.5ft x 5ft) done on sanded plywood, framed with wood taken from the old fort I played on as a child.
It depicts the 'Roman' Jesus on the left sizing up his opponent Satan on the right, flanked by some figures that might be recognizable.
I intended for this work to say something about the nature of Religion as well as pop(e) culture--how the media spectacle of big entertainment is nothing but an illusion or distraction from real spirituality. The original idea was to do a series of these paintings based on the Catholic Stations of the Cross, in the style of Caravaggio, but the rest of the proposed paintings never came to fruition due to how long it takes to manufacture such a large piece as well as lack of funding.
The Shipping/transport cost for this large painting is included in the price of purchase.
